Palmilla is the original luxury address of Los Cabos. It began in the late 1950s as Hotel Palmilla, today’s One&Only Palmilla, and grew into a gated master-planned community on the San José Corridor. It has one of the few swimmable beaches in Los Cabos, Latin America’s first Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and neighborhoods ranging from lock-and-leave condos to beachfront estates. Abelardo “Rod” Rodríguez opened Palmilla in the late 1950s as a 15-room hideaway reached only by private plane or yacht. That resort is now One&Only Palmilla, and the land around it became one of the most established residential communities in Los Cabos.
U.S. buyers usually narrow their search to Palmilla for three reasons:
Palmilla is a collection of gated enclaves rather than a single development. The highway divides them into an ocean side (beachfront and ocean-view homes) and a golf side (inland enclaves with golf and mountain views).
